Okay, I’m gonna be honest with you. This recipe looks and smells way better than it tastes.
Just mixing the dough made my mouth water. Then as my niece, Kathryn, and I pulled the bread out of the oven, we may have drooled a little bit. And as I cut the first slice and steam poured out from the bread, our stomachs growled.
We were so excited to dive into it, but it was totally lackluster. Kinda boring. Just bland.
I was expecting a warm garlic flavor with a punch from the sharp cheddar cheese. We didn’t get any of that.
Give this a try if you want, but maybe play with the flavors a bit. Definitely not my favorite recipe.
Garlic Cheddar Quick Bread (recipe care of ourtableforseven.com)

INGREDIENTS (Makes: 1 loaf): 3 cups flour, 4 tsp baking powder, 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, 1/4 cup sugar, 2 tsp garlic powder, 1/2 tsp dried Italian seasoning, 1 1/2 cup milk, 1/4 cup canola oil, 1 egg
DIRECTIONS: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9 in loaf pan. In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, sugar, garlic powder and Italian seasoning. Set aside. In another bowl, mix milk, egg and canola oil until well combined. Mix dry ingredients into wet ingredients and until combined. Fold in cheddar cheese. Pour into prepared pan, If desired, sprinkle with some additional Italian seasoning. Bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour. Let bread cool for approx 15 minutes before cutting.
